Ottawa International Animated Film Festival Announces Seven-Film Competition Lineup

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) has announced the seven films that will make up its 2022 feature film lineup. [These films include Pilar Newton-Katz, assistant professor of animation at the City University of New York; Mark Bertrand, producer of the National Film Board of Canada; and Hugo Covarrubias, Oscar-nominated for his Chilean short film "Bestia." The film will be voted on by the OIAF jury and will compete for the Grand Prize for Best Animated Feature Film.

"This year's finalists in the feature film category are stylistically, technically, and thematically diverse and very timely. They include a musical film about refugees, an anti-war film for adults featuring teddy bears and unicorns, a moving and comical memoir about a family's experience living under China's repressive regime, the utterly hypnotic and mystical beauty of director Koji Yamamura, a past winner of the OIAF Grand Prix, a cult A lo-fi indie comedy by Joni Phillips, a cult favorite and special guest at OIAF, and an astonishing film from Algeria about a boy with amnesia who embarks on a journey to regain his memory."

OIAF2022 will take place September 21-25 at various venues in downtown Ottawa. Festival passes can be purchased at the OIAF box office, and individual tickets will be available closer to the festival dates.
