Netflix Fall Calendar: 'Wendell & Wild' and 'Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio' Streaming Dates Set

Netflix has announced its fall feature film schedule, which includes four animated films.

Each of the four films will appear on streaming between now and December 9 and will have at least a limited theatrical release, though how limited is not yet known. In any case, all four films will likely be eligible for the 2023 Academy Awards.

Four films in order of release date:

Wendell & Wild - Henry Selick

At select theaters: October 21

Netflix release: October 28

"Wendell & Wild" (Oscar winner), perfect for Halloween co-written with and starring Jordan Peele) is Selick's first feature film since 2009's "Coraline. His directorial debut, Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas," was released just before Halloween 1993 and became a modern classic. Selick and Ellen Goldsmith-Vine are producing for Gotham Group. Executive producers are Wynn Rosenfeld for Monkeypaw, Peter Principato-Young for Principato-Young and Joel Zadak, and Lindsay Williams and Eddie Gamarra for Gotham Group. Argentine artist Pablo Lobato designed the characters.

Netflix also released a new poster for the film.

My Father's Dragon - Nora Twomey

My Father's Dragon, from the Irish cartoon saloon, is a film by writer adapted from the Newbery Award-winning children's book of the same name by author Ruth Stiles Gannett. The story centers on a boy who is struggling to cope after moving to the city with his mother. In frustration, Elmer runs away in search of a wild island and a young dragon awaiting rescue. The boy's adventure experiences encounters with ferocious beasts, a mysterious island, and an everlasting friendship.

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, Stephen Donnelly

In theaters: November 18

Netflix release: December 2

"Coati" and "Extinct" Timeless Films in association with Axis Studios Produced by Timeless Films (Coati, Extinct) in association with Axis Studios and directed by Stephen Donnelly (Monster High: Welcome to Monster High), the musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic holiday story is a musical adaptation of the classic holiday story by Charles Dickens. The film features music by two-time Academy Award winner Leslie Bricusse.

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio - Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson

In theaters: undated

Netflix release: December 9

Del Toro and Mark Gustafson ("PJ," "Fantastic Mr. Fox") are the directors of the film. FOX) will direct the third "Pinocchio" film in 2022, perhaps the most anticipated adaptation of the year. The stop-motion puppets for the film were provided by Georgina Haynes of Wooden Boy in "Corpse Bride." Animation is by Shadowmachine's Portland studio and El Taller del Chucho in Guadalajara, Mexico.
