No Dogs or Italians Allowed" and "Chicken Foreigner! Mars Express" was nominated for a Cesar Award.

Nominations for France's 49th César Awards for Animation and VFX were announced Wednesday. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on February 23 at the Olympia in Paris.

This year's Animated Feature Film category is very competitive, with three films likely to win: Alain Ughetto's "No Dogs or Italians Allowed" will win the 2022 European Film Award for Best Animated Feature Film, and Sébastien Laudenbach and Chiara Malta's "Chicken for Linda!" won the Cristal Award for Best Feature Film at last year's Annecy International Film Festival.

This year's diverse lineup included a stop-motion tale of immigration in the 1920s, a brightly colored family film about a mother-daughter relationship, and a noir sci-fi thriller set in a world of androids and exoplanet dwellers.

In the Animated Short Films section, three films that have had very limited distribution at the festival, Charlie Beran's "Drôles d'oiseaux," Mathilde Bedouet's "Summer 96," and Denis Deux's "La forêt de mademoiselle Tang will be exhibited at the festival. The winning film will not only receive the César Award, but will also be considered for next year's Academy Awards.
