SXSW 2015: Animated Shorts Lineup Announced

"PALM ROT" by Ryan Gillis.

South by Southwest has announced its selections for the 2015 Film Festival, which will take place March 13-21 in Austin, Texas. Eleven films have been selected for the Animated Short Film Competition, including Don Hertzfeldt's "World of Tomorrow," which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize last month. Pixar's retrograde dud "Lava" is also on the list, which is an odd programming choice if one is trying to represent the contemporary development of animation with only 11 films.

Lucas Martel's "The OceanMaker" was shown in the Texas Shorts program, while Sawako Kaburaki's "ANAL JUKE -anal juice" was previously featured in Cartoon Brew and selected for the Midnight Shorts program.
