Pixar's latest short film, "The Blue Umbrella," had a tough awards season, being shut out of both the Academy Awards and the Annie Awards. The film's director, Sashka Unseld, is celebrating the film through her new website, The Blue Umbrella Making-Of Holiday Calendar.

Each day from December 1 to 24, Sashka will take viewers behind the scenes of the film's various stages of development and production. During the first two days, Sashka discussed his inspiration for the short film and shared the pitch he prepared with John Lasseter. Whether or not you will enjoy the film is not the issue.
