'The Dam Keeper' Filmmakers Return with New Film "Moom" (Trailer)

Dice Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo, former Pixar art directors and directors of the Academy Award-nominated short "The Dam Keeper," have completed their second short film, "Moom."

The trailer for the film, which was just screened at the festival, can be seen below: [This 13-minute film was produced in partnership with Craftar and Marza Animation Planet through their growing production company Tonko House, [This 13-minute film, produced in partnership with Craftar and Marza Animation Planet through their growing production company Tonko House, tells the story of a memory anthropomorphized as a cute creature with big ears that helps to free other memories from their object. The concept is based on a picture book written by Genki Kawamura and illustrated by Yuki Mashiko.

Robert Kondo will be speaking at the San Francisco International Film Festival this Sunday, April 24, about other projects being developed by Moom and Tonko House. For tickets and more information, see the festival website.

Kondo and Tsutsumi have been posting a series of making-of videos on Youtube documenting the development and production of the film. Three episodes have been released to date.

The duo is also working on developing "The Dam Keeper" into a feature-length animation. A graphic novel series based on this concept will debut later this year from Macmillan's publisher, First Second Books.
