2018 Academy Awards Animated Short Films: List of Nominees (Exclusive)

Members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will learn next week which animated short films have been nominated for the Academy Awards in the animated short film category.

However, Cartoon Brew tracks the category throughout the year, and below is an exclusive list of more than 60 films known to have been nominated in the animated short film category. These films will be viewed and voted on by members of the Short Films and Animated Feature Films categories between mid-October and Thanksgiving, at which point the Academy will publish a short list of 10 films. The ten films will then be voted on again to determine the final five Academy Award nominees.

There are three ways to be nominated in the Animated Short Film category:

With some caveats: Even if all of the films on this list are technically eligible, it is unclear whether the filmmakers have actually taken the extra step of submitting their films for Academy Award competition.
