New Adult Animation Channel "Autour de Minuit" Offers Free Access to Popular Festival Short Films

With so much of our lives having moved to the Internet, the pandemic has spurred film distributors to improve their online offerings. Autour de Minuit has launched Animatic, a highly engaging Youtube channel dedicated to animated shorts for teenagers and adults. More precisely, this is a rebranding of an existing channel, now enhanced by a new schedule of bi-weekly releases.

Based in Paris, Autour de Minuit consistently produces and distributes some of the best, funniest, and downright bizarre films in the world of animated shorts. Alberto Vazquez's "Decorado," David Coquard-Dassault's "Peripheria," and Gabriel Risso's "Jukai."

All three films can be seen on this channel, along with about 100 short films in the vaults of the Autor de Minuit. The Oscar-winning corporate satire "Logorama," the fascinating psychological drama "Oh Willy...," which won many awards and created the needle-felt puppet animation craze. and a wealth of other films.

New films are uploaded twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The program includes both classic shorts and new works, many of which will have their online premiere or world premiere on Animatic. The channel has already exclusively distributed "Nix's Monster" (top image), a 30-minute musical fantasy by Dutch multi-artist Lost, who died last year. We are told that the channel plans to eventually broadcast other works outside of the Autour de Minuit catalog.

Autour de Minuit has produced nearly 80 short films since its founding in 2001, and its catalog is nearly 400. The company also produces series films aimed primarily at younger audiences, and has a number of films in production and development (including Vazquez's "The Great Unicorn War") and is ramping up its feature productions In April, we spoke with the company's director, Nicolas Chmelkin, about his creative philosophy.
