November 2023, Anime on Netflix, Prime Video, Max, and Hulu

Two years ago, we began publishing a monthly guide to the streaming debut of as many animated movies, series, and specials as we could track.

In the months and years since then, new streamers have emerged, others have changed the way they report upcoming release dates, and nearly all streamers announce new titles in the month of release.

These changes have made tracking anime debuts much more difficult than before, while at the same time requiring constant maintenance of the guide. So we are making some changes to the format of our streaming guides.

Instead of posting a (nearly) exhaustive list each month, we'll highlight a handful of interesting titles headed to the major streaming platforms and explain why they caught our eye... Any films coming out in November that you're particularly excited about? We'd love to hear about it in the comments.

Here are some of the standout titles coming to Netflix, Hulu, Max, and Prime Video in November.

Netflix typically adds the most original animation to its lineup each month, and November is no different. Perhaps the most high-profile debut is "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off," an animated adaptation of the popular graphic novel and feature film franchise. The series, animated by Tokyo-based studio Science Sal and executive produced by Edgar Wright, the director of the original film, premieres on November 17, and will be broadcast on November 18, with the first episode airing on November 19.

"Blue-Eyed Samurai," which premieres on November 3, mixes 2D and CG animation to tell the Edo period story of a vengeful mixed-race samurai. The film is produced, written and executive produced by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, and directed by Jane Wu. Green, who was nominated for an Academy Award for co-writing "Logan," will also serve as showrunner. France's Blue Spirit is in charge of the animation studio.

"Invincible" is one of Prime Video's most successful original series, animated or not. The cultural impact of Season 1 was immense, and many fans must be eagerly awaiting the November 3 arrival of Season 2.

One of Adult Swim's most iconic animated series, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, returns with five episodes on November 27. The series picks up where season 11 left off in 2015, with Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad facing off against AI appliances, starting a rock band, and getting involved in an Egyptian pyramid scheme.

Hulu will introduce U.S. viewers to two important international feature films that have been very successful at the local box office. The Ukrainian feature film Mavka: The Forest Song was released on March 2 in its home country and grossed 24.9 million UAH ($680,912) in its debut weekend. It became available on Hulu on November 9.

Katak the Brave Beluga, produced by Quebec studio 10th Ave Productions, was a local hit, grossing over C$1.45 million (US$1 million) in Quebec Hulu subscribers can begin can stream the film.
