Premise Entertainment Unveils Concepts and Development Artwork for Animated Feature Film "Jesus" (Exclusive)

Premise Entertainment has exclusively released to Cartoon Brew early concepts and in-production artwork for "Jesus," an animated feature film based on biblical characters.

The film is currently in pre-production, with full production set to begin in the first quarter of 2024, with a targeted release date of 2025.

"Jesus" is directed by Dominic Carolla, who has a 30-year career as an animator, including "Mulan," "Lilo & Stitch" and "Brother Bear." The screenplay is by Barry Cook, co-director of "Mulan" and "Arthur Christmas."

According to Carolla:

I have had the pleasure of working on many films and projects, but this film is the most significant and impactful of them all. I am honored to be working with such a great team to bring this film to life. We are committed to making a beautiful film that is worthy of the story it tells, leaning on classic elements from the Golden Age of Illustration.

"Jesus" is produced by Ray Aguerrevere and Stuart Lauder, who will use the film's assets to create VR, AR, and metaverse experiences set in the world of "Jesus" in the future. The staff includes executive producer Jason Friscione ("Ice Age" series), line producer Tracy Dispenza ("How to Train Your Dragon" production manager), VFX supervisor John Helms ( Star Wars" series), production designer Armando Serrano ("Big Hero 6"), and lead editor Lauren Stevens ("Spies in Disguise").

"Jesus" is fully financed by the Jesus Film Project, which produced the 1979 live-action film "Jesus" and has distributed it for decades since.

According to Aguerrevere,

As we embark on the production of this unique global film for audiences around the world, I continue to be amazed by the award-winning talent and team that have come together to create this film and the immersive digital experience that follows. The most exciting aspect for me is the ability to redeploy these assets from Jesus' animated film to create experiences accessible across a variety of platforms, including virtual reality, augmented reality, and the emerging metaverse.
