Jellyfish Pictures Joins Fastest Growing VFX/Animation Company in India

Independent British VFX and animation studio Jellyfish Pictures has made its first foray into India, appointing Jasjit Singh as general manager of its new studio in Mumbai. The studio expects more than 100 artists to work at the location by the end of the year.

Jellyfish is only the latest player to set up store in India. VFX and animation production has been on the rise in India over the past few years, and the local market has shown great interest in animated content. The Indian government has taken note of this and is encouraging ambitious growth plans for animation, VFX, and video game production.

By 2022, broadcaster Sony Yay! has announced that it will enter original animation, and Qyou Media has launched a channel dedicated to adult animation. Disney has had success with local animation and has opened a new ILM animation/VFX studio in Mumbai.
