Montreal's Tonic DNA Acquires Ngenius Studios

Montreal-based Tonic DNA has acquired Ngenious Studio and all of its IP assets and appointed Ngenious founder Eric Gervais-Desprez as its new head of R&D and pipeline development.

According to Tonic, the acquisition is part of the company's larger strategy to better position itself in a market where interest in mixed 2D/3D animation is growing. The acquisition will also allow the company to develop technologies and techniques for future productions in both film/series and advertising.

Tonic has been involved in the production of Leap! , "Gnomeo and Juliet," "300," and "Fantastic Four" (2005), as well as Gervais-Desprez's decades of experience in animation and VFX for major international productions at Walt Disney Feature Animation
