The Chase" by Roc Preddin

British Trunk Animation director Roc Preddin's latest short is a haunting little art film starring a nasty cat demon and a rather cute car.

Composer Ivan Arnold drives Rok Predin's latest project for Trunk Animation.

Director Roc Preddin and composer Ivan Arnold, longtime collaborators, have worked on a number of great short films, including "Winter Poem," "Inside," and Roc's comical short "Curiosity Killed The Cat." Usually, Rok is the driving force behind these projects, inviting Ivan to compose for the finished work. For their latest short, "The Chase," however, the initial concept was Ivan's. He wanted to create a score with a "dynamic rhythm of movement,"

and he wanted to create a score with a "dynamic rhythm of movement.

Naturally, Ivan asked his trusted collaborator Roc to work on this concept. The resulting short film was fantastic; Rok filmed a beautiful and determined chase sequence. In the video, a cuddly toy-like car slowly begins to disintegrate as it is pursued by a giant cat demon that looks as if it just stepped out of a nightmare Alice in Wonderland. Ivan's score uses soft Asian gamelan to set the tempo and layered soundscapes to create haunting melodies that propel the short story forward.

Rok chose a car toy look and color scheme to promote the dreamy, unrealistic nature of the video. He also noted that "one-shots were used throughout the video to engage the viewer and sustain suspense, and Ivan's music provided the pace of the chase."

The 3D car and cat were created in Cinema 4D, while textures, pyro effects, and beautiful color grading and compositions were created in After Effects.

In typical Rok style, a cute car is revealed to have a dark ending!
