The Circle Line, by Adam Wells.

In "The Circle Line," London-based Adam Wells describes the life cycle of a creative individual and the compromises and heartbreak that accompany it. At least, this is my reading, and there may be other interpretations. In common with Welles' earlier short films Brave New Old and The Rest is Science, Circle Line is preoccupied with the inherent beauty of mechanical processes (in this film, especially the moving sidewalk) and physical routines.

I invited director Wells to share with readers how he achieved the film's signature look. He wrote:

This project is CGI, but without character rigs. I use "point level" animation on a 2D flat surface, posing directly on each frame; CG animation is often compared to puppetry, and many traditional animation enthusiasts shy away from the aesthetic. I try to create something that is entirely CG, but made in a more traditional manner. (This is a technique I also used on my larger project, Risehigh.
