Oscar Winner Daniel Grieves Hopes to Kickstart "Mr. Plastic Mime"

Winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film can do a lot for a filmmaker's career, but it does not guarantee unlimited funding for the rest of his life. That's why Oscar-winning British director Daniel Grieves is seeking £33,450 (about $51,000) for his next project, Mr. Grieves and London-based Tandem Films. With less than a week to go, they have reached more than two-thirds of their goal.

Grieves won an Academy Award in 1992 for his short film "Manipulation":

His new short "Mr. Plastimime" mixes clay animation with hand-drawn facial expressions and CG backgrounds. Director Grieves often mixes animation techniques, as in his well-received short "Flatworld":

The compensation package is well thought out and includes the option to receive models for the new film and artwork from his previous films "Manipulation" and "Flatworld. The reward package is well thought out and includes the option to receive new models and artwork from previous works "Manipulation" and "Flatworld. The new short film "Mr. Plastimime" also appears to be well underway at this time, and an update on the project posted on Kickstarter shows impressive visual development and dedicated craftsmanship, including hand-drawn pencil tests by Grieves.
