LOSSING NIMO" uses animation to warn of overfishing

Aside from the snappy title, there is little to smile about in Losing Nemo. It is a grim short film that warns of industrial overfishing and the accelerating loss of aquatic biodiversity, which could result in the near disappearance of marine life within the next 50 years.

The film was directed and written by Dutch filmmaker Douwe van der Werff in collaboration with the marine conservation organization Black Fish, and was produced by an international crew of more than 30 people over a period of five months, free of charge. The filmmakers have set up a Tumblr to share artwork during the film's production and a website to fact-check the issues discussed in the film.
