Chris Burns' "Coin" is the video game satire to end all video game satire

"Coin," an animated short directed and animated by Chris Burns, premiered at Midsummer Night Toons a few months ago and was recently posted online.

The short, about a man who loses his coins and then recovers them through a combination of the virtues of hard work and perseverance, was produced by Exit 73 Studios, a young Long Island animation studio co-founded by Barnes and Bob Fox.

In general, I am not an advocate of "action for action"-style animated shorts, but with such a high level of skill, it is easy to make an exception. Burns, who was a major artist before leaving Augenblick Studios to start Exit 73, has an uncanny ability to keep a multitude of elements in constant motion without confusing or disorienting the viewer.

With this work, he has succeeded in adding freshness to the genre of video game satire, which is not a straightforward genre. We hope that he will apply his unique abilities to more serious projects in the future.
