Watch "I Am Super," a short superhero satire series from France

Inspired by the art of underground comics and the dark voice of Vin Diesel, a French animated short film series is now available online.

"I Am Super" (Je Suis Super) was created by Christophe Blanc (video) and Jean-François Oliver (sound and music) for Melting Productions, an independent studio based in Paris. In this series, a tights-wearing superhero with no weaknesses unleashes a fist-based righteousness and fearless humor in every direction.

Based in Nimes, Blanc studied at the Higher School of Fine Arts in Toulouse and founded the video and contemporary art collective D-tracks. He also creates art and animation under the name Valparess.

Originally a doujinshi comic strip drawn in ballpoint pen, "I Am Super" draws on the style of underground and independent comic artists such as Fletcher Hanks, Pierre La Police, Jean Lecoantre, and Robert Crumb

The film draws inspiration from.

The animated series was commissioned by France Télévisions on its "Studio 4.0" web series platform, with two seasons available on YouTube (in French). The first season has also been translated into English and can be viewed here.

The mobile game "I Am Super and I Do Justice" is available on iTunes and Google Play.
