Contemporary Disney Shorts on Blu-ray

Disney Animation Studios has announced the release of "The Short Films Collection," a collection of rare and popular films, with "Frozen Fever" as the centerpiece.

Coming August 11 on Disney Movies Anywhere's digital cloud service and August 18 on Blu-ray (pre-order on Amazon), the Short Films Collection collects Disney shorts released since 2000, with new extras and polished with interviews with the filmmakers.

It includes Academy Award-winning and nominated shorts such as Lorenzo, The Paper Man, Feast, and Catch a Horse! - The Little Match Girl, in which Walt Disney himself voiced Mickey, and Disney shorts such as Prep & Landing: Also included are Disney short films such as Prep & Landing: Operation Secret Santa The Ballad of Nessie, Tick Tock Tale, How to Hook Up Your Home Theater, John Henry, etc.

"Tangled Ever After" follows Disney's (presumably 2D) "Tangled" TV series, which is still in development but features the film's lovable protagonists.

Each short begins with an introduction by the filmmaker explaining its creation, and "Disney Animation: Short Stories," hosted by T.J. Miller, the voice of the broader Disney Animation: Big Hero 6, provides an insight into the artistic and technical processes behind the studio's short film legacy.

In conjunction with this release, the 1995 short film Runaway Brain will also debut on Disney Movies Anywhere in August.
