Richard Williams releases trailer for new film "Prologue"

This morning, animation legend Richard Williams ("The Thief and the Cobbler," "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?") premiered his new six-minute animated short "Prologue." The film, which premiered at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in June, is the result of Williams' exceptional animation skills.

In the following preview, Williams explains the impetus for "Prologue" with snippets of the finished film:

Conceived as part of a larger project that Williams jokingly says, "Can I live to finish this?" Prologue" depicts a harrowing scene of Spartan and Athenian warriors fighting to the death.

The film's U.S. premiere took place this weekend at the Telluride Film Festival. Prologue will qualify for the Academy Awards at the Laemmle Royal Theatre in Los Angeles on Friday, September 11. Matinee screening times have not yet been announced.

Also on Wednesday, September 9, Imogen Sutton, the producer of Williams' latest film (not to mention his wife), will be speaking at the Women in Animation event in Burbank. Details on how to attend the event can be found on the WIA website.
