Cartoon d'Or 2016 European Animated Short Film Award Nominations Announced

[The Cartoon d'Or, held annually since 1991, aims to promote up-and-coming European animation talent and bring filmmakers and the animation industry together. This year, 23 award-winning short films from affiliated European animation festivals were nominated for the Cartoon d'Or. The finalists were selected by a jury composed of producer Clément Calvet (Superprod, France), director Mark Burton (Aardman Animations, UK) and director Alessandro Lacque (MAD Entertainment, Italy). The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Cartoon Forum Pitching & Co-Production event in Toulouse, France, on September 15, and Cartoon Brew will report from the event for the first time this year.

Last year's Cartoon Doll winner, Daisy Jacobs' "The Bigger Picture," is also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
