Tom and Jerry Long in the works, this film revives the beloved franchise in hybrid form. While the cat and mouse appear in CG, the design, rigging, and animation attempt to stay true to the style of the hand-drawn original. The film will be released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max, in keeping with Warner Bros. Pictures' strategy this year; it will leave HBO Max after 31 days. (2/26)

Craig McCracken, creator of Kid Cosmic Powerpuff Girls, returns to sci-fi superhero territory with his first Netflix series (also his first serialized show). A young boy's dream of gaining superpowers comes true when he discovers five magical "cosmic stones." Trouble is, he can't master their powers. (Feb. 2)

Earworms and Witches Studio Ghibli's first film in six years is a departure from the traditional Ghibli style. However, the story of an orphan girl discovering the power of magic fits perfectly into the Studio Ghibli canon. Two days after its partial theatrical release, the film premieres on HBO Max, joining the rest of Ghibli's catalog. (2/5)

The Book of Life. A tribute to Mexico's Day of the Dead, directed by Jorge Gutierrez. Produced by Fox, the film is now under the Disney umbrella and will soon be released on Disney+ alongside Pixar's later film, Coco (similar to this one). (2/19)

Inside Pixar: Portrait.Disney+ is adding five more episodes to its behind-the-scenes miniseries. This time, not only directors and visual artists will be featured, but also less well-known professions such as international production directors and pastry chefs.
