Exclusive: Nickelodeon's new short program

Nickelodeon today announced a new short animation program aimed at developing comedy-driven content. The press release can be found on CB Biz: [As part of the program, 10 60-second animated shorts will be produced that could become feature-length comedy series that will air on the network and on Nick.com.

Created to expand Nickelodeon's comedy animation development slate, the shorts program is designed to attract new talent to develop both artist and comedian-led shorts. Ideas will be solicited from internal and external talent, including artists, designers, screenwriters, and directors, and artistic support will be provided for short film production based on experience level. In addition, selected comedians will be provided with the artistic and production support necessary to complete their short films.

Deadline for submissions is March 30 at 6 p.m. PT. Animated short films will be produced at Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, CA.
