Disney TV Animation Begins Production on "Pickle & Peanut"

It is becoming increasingly difficult to tell the difference between the YouTube cartoons that teenagers dream about in their bedrooms and the big-budget television studio productions produced by professionally trained artists. Because Pickles and Peanut's expressionless, identical poses show no personality or character at all, except for their questionable fashion sense in sunglasses.

Pickles & Peanuts, a hybrid of 2D animation and live action, will debut on Disney XD in the fall of 2015. The concept was created by Noah Z. Jones of Fish Hooks and Electric City, who has deftly directed similar mixed media projects such as Carrot and Stick and Mr. Wobble's Nightmare (below). Joel Trussell was in charge of development. Jon Heder plays Pickles, Johnny Pemberton plays Nuts, and Mark Rivers of "Jimmy Kimmel Live! 's Mark Rivers served as story editor.

Eric Coleman, Senior VP of Original Series for Disney TV Animation, said of the series, "Few projects are as funny and original as 'Pickles and Peanuts. Noah and Joel have created a world with a visual style and sensibility not seen on television."
