First teaser for the French "Astro Boy" reboot

Paris-based animation studio Caribara Animation has released a teaser for its reboot of the iconic Japanese character Astro Boy, a hybrid 2D and CG series currently 26.5 hours in the making:

The teaser video was directed and designed by Florian Thuret, who was co-artistic director and assistant director of the French feature film "Suicide Specialist". Animation is by Mickaël Crouzat, also a key animator on Despicable Me and Ernest & Celestine, who has released a pencil test of the teaser on Vimeo:

Calibara is a collaboration between Monaco-based Shibuya Productions and Japan's Tezuka Productions to produce this series. The show is based on Osamu Tezuka's beloved manga work, known in Japan as "Mighty Atom," but the upcoming French series will feature new stories and new characters. It remains to be seen whether U.S. broadcasters will air the show.
