My Little Pony's Megan McCarthy Named Head of Storytelling at Hasbro

Megan McCarthy, executive producer of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, has been promoted to head of storytelling for Hasbro Studios' Girl Brand.

This comes as no surprise given the broad reach and geek cred of the rebooted My Little Pony cartoon series, now in its fifth season on the Discovery Family Network.

McCarthy will direct the latest My Little Pony animated feature film arriving in 2017, implementing a multi-year strategy of developing stories and characters from Hasbro's portfolio. She already has a track record of writing and producing this high-profile film from 2013-2015, including My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, Equestria Girls, Rainbow Rocks, Equestria Girls: My Little Pony: Equestria Girls," "Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks," and "Equestria Girls: Friendship Games," and has written and produced several high-profile films between 2013 and 2015.

However, McCarthy's magical touch in television, including writing for episodes of Cartoon Network's "Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends" and Disney's "Fish Hooks," has It has produced a positive return on investment.

"Having worked closely with Megan for the past four years and having witnessed what a skillful storyteller she is, clearly one of the best in our business, I can't tell you how thrilled we are to have her join our organization." Steven Davis, vice president and chief content officer, said in a written statement. Hasbro will rely on McCarthy's "ability to create vast worlds and characters across our entire portfolio of brands, including digital, television, live-action and animated films."

With this promotion to management, McCarthy becomes the only animation executive popular enough to be recreated as an avatar in WWE 2K14.
