Turner Broadcasting, a subsidiary of Time Warner networks, and Warner Bros. are relaunching the archival animation channel Boomerang with original content and commercials.

Turner announced Tuesday that Boomerang will launch a new animated series this fall based on the popular children's book "Vanicula. Featuring a vampire rabbit who drinks vegetable juice instead of blood, "Bunnicula" will join another new half-hour animated series, "Be Cool Scooby-Doo!" and the previously announced "Looney Tunes Revival Wabbit."

TV Animation, will be complemented by 3,500 archival titles from the libraries of Hanna-Barbera, MGM, and Warner Bros. These will add to Boomerang's already vast cartoon collections from Time Warner and Cartoon Network Studios, which should come in handy in an entertainment age bursting with more animation viewing options than ever before. [Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation, creator of "The Looney Tunes Show" and supervising producer of "Wabbit," said in a press release. This agreement provides an exciting creative opportunity to explore this vast collection, develop new and engaging programming based on these beloved characters, and introduce them to a new generation of families."

The partnership marks the first time original content will be developed for Boomerang, which will premiere on several international channels on Cartoon Network with a worldwide channel reaching 250 million subscribers. Turner also plans the possibility of airing it in other territories on owned networks such as Toonami, Pogo, and Boing. Commercials will also appear on Boomerang in an attempt to capture a larger share of the billion-dollar children's advertising market.
