Annecy 2018: TV and Commissioned Film Selection

The Annecy International Animated Film Festival has announced the second installment of its 2018 selection, consisting of television programs and commissioned films in Competition. (The short films in Competition were announced earlier this month.)

The Festival selected 54 projects in two categories: 23 TV programs and 31 commissioned films, the latter a catch-all category that includes commercials, music videos, trailers, and commissioned short films. The selection was made by Annecy's artistic director, Marcel Jean, and a film and program planning team consisting of Laurent Million, Yves Nougalade, and Sébastien Sperrer.

Three American (or partly American) projects participated in the TV competition: "Robot Chicken The Walking Dead Special": Look Who's Walking, "Pig: The Dam Keeper Poems" episodes "Yellow Flower" and "Hello Nice To Meet You," and "Panda's Art," an episode of the Cartoon Network series We Bare Bears. On the commissioned side, Americans did well, with nine of the 31 films originating in the U.S., including Jay Z's music video "The Story of O.J.," the robot chicken couch gag from "The Simpsons," and the 20th anniversary clip for "Toonami Exquisite Corpse."

The film was selected by the U.S.

The full list of selections can be found on the Annecy website. The selections for virtual reality, feature films, and out-of-competition films will be announced in April.
