Jeremy Zaugg, producer of "The Miracle Ladybug," on his musical feature "Melody" with Katy Perry

Callie Perry is the producer of the animated musical "Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir" by Jeremy Zaugg.

Perry told Deadline, which announced the project:

I am a 37-year-old woman who still struggles with anxiety. I've come to believe that everyone has anxiety and that those who don't have it have some negative trait because of it. I am such a fan of the world of animation, and now that my daughter is two years old, I am more immersed in it than ever before. What resonated with Melody and her character was the overall storyline as it relates to confidence. I realized that no amount of films with such a strong empowerment theme can be enough in laying the groundwork for my own child to become fearless, confident, and brave.

Zag added to Deadline:

It's so complicated, but I'm glad I didn't do it before, after all these years, because now I finally feel ready. Melody is someone who has to believe in herself, and to do that she has to learn to love herself before worrying about what others think. The big pop stars are celebrities who live in golden castles and are surrounded by paparazzi, but the little girls have passion and fear. I have never seen anyone as creative as Katie.
