Crunchyroll is planning a North American performance of "One Piece Film Red."

Sony-owned anime distributor Crunchyroll is bringing Japan's current box office giant One Piece Film Red to North American cinemas later this year.

Already selling more than99300 million at the Japanese box office, the 15th "One Piece" will be released in US theaters on 11/4, the day after it landed in Australia and New Zealand. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters in Austria and Germany on 10/13.

Sony, more specifically Crunchyroll, is redefining the theatrical landscape for North American anime features and proving that popular Japanese animated films can regularly pull in more than33,000 million at the box office.

Of the top 6 anime titles at the North American box office, 4 have come in the past 3 years, each being distributed by either Crunchyroll or Funimation.Both are currently owned by Sony: Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train, Jujustsu Kaisen0: The Movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and Dragon Ball Super: Broly. We will carefully look at what numbers the latest one-piece films can collect.

Prior to its broad theatrical release in the United States, the film will premiere in North America at New York Comic-Con on May 6.
