Tonally, it is between the Lord of the Rings and the Princess Bride. It's like Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings, it's a huge world with history until the story starts and multiple events taking place outside of the story. But at the same time, I would like to enjoy some of the customs that the bride of the princess did. It's not a parody, it's not making fun of it, but it has a light and refreshing perspective.

Even though it was a very ambitious film, I felt so supportive throughout the making of the Sea Beast. It represents financial investment and risk, and they've always been cool to be able to make the movies I want to make. I always value people's opinions and I always listen to what everyone has to say. But they never forced my hand, nor did they let me do anything other than let me do the movie I wanted to make. ...The business model is radically different [on Netflix]. If you're at Pixar or Disney, you make 1 or 2 movies a year. And since all the eggs are in that basket, there is a lot of concern and surprise about that one thing. And when you're working on it, it's both conscious and unconscious. You feel that tension. If it doesn't succeed, it can be an existential problem.
