Hollywood heads to France: Pixar's -Elemental- will make its world premiere at Cannes before debuting at Dreamworks' "Ruby Gilman" Annecy.

The Cannes Film Festival and Annecy will feature big Hollywood premieres in the coming months, the former with Peter Thorne's Elemental selection as its closing film and the latter is set to debut Dreamworks' upcoming film Ruby Gilman: Teenage Crush ken.

Elemental is Pixar's 27th feature film, directed by Peter Thorne (Good Dinosaur, partly cloudy) and produced by Dennis Reem (Good Dinosaur, Cars 2). The film includes a script for a story written by John Hoberg, Cat Rikel and Brenda Shue with Thorne. Produced by Pete Dr. Executive. The original score of the film was composed and directed by Thomas Newman.

Set in Element City, a melting pot inspired by New York City, the Elemental unspools of the world where the inhabitants of fire, water, land and air live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, witty, and fiery young woman whose fun and friendship, sappy, go-with-the-flow man named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.

The film got a shiny new trailer just a few weeks ago. It hits theaters on 6/16.

Director Ruby Gillman was produced by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Kirk DeMicco (Vivo, The Croods, Space Chimps) and by kelly Cooney Cilella (Bilby, Trolls World Tour). It is co-directed by Farin Pearl (storyboard artist on The Croods: A New Age, Trolls World Tour).

The film follows a shy 16-year-old Ruby Gilman, who learns that she is next in the legendary line of the Royal Sea Kraken. Despite her lofty destiny, everything Ruby wants to do is fit. At school, she falls for the skater boy she is mentoring, showing no signs of feeling the same about her. Ruby struggles to fit even more because her mother forbids her to go to the beach with friends. But when Ruby decides not to follow her mother's instructions, she is a descendant of the Queen of Warrior Kraken, and one day Fonda will voice as the Queen of the Warriors of the Seven Seas.

DreamWorks Animation will present the world premiere of the film at Annecy on Thursday night on the 15th, including special introductions from DeMicco, Cooney Cilella and Pearl. When the trailer for the film was released last month, Demicco and Cooney Sirella sat down with us to discuss Dreamworks' next big feature, which will be released in theaters at 6.30 AM.
