"Nimona" was a hit and ranked 10th in the Top 3 Netflix weeks.

Released 10 days ago in streaming, Nimona soared to 7th place in Netflix's Top 3 weekly charts for the week from 9/10 to 3.

Moving from the 9th spot in the first week, Nimona doubled its viewing time from 550 million to 1150 million. THE FILM ALSO DOUBLED ITS VIEW FROM 3.2M TO 6.7M. (That first week was tallied only for the Friday-Sunday period, similar to how box office weekends are reported.

The news of Nimona's continued strong performance is that this is a more edgy offer than many other original animation productions yet firmly in the category of family-friendly films, but Nimona is more punk than mainstream studios want to explore. It shows that there is an opportunity to push the direction of anarchy in the rock.

It's also good news for Netflix animation. In 2022, it released a series of films that missed viewers, including 10 features that never made its own top 3 list, Apollo10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood, Wendell & Wild and My Father's Dragon.

But since then, the last three Netflix animated films of streamers have spent more than one week on the list, each debuting in the top 10. Those films are Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, the Magician's Elephant, and now Nimona.

This week's other animation-related movies on Netflix's top 10 were hybrid Woody Woodpecker in 2017, landing at #6.3M with 4.2m viewing times and 10m viewing times. It's even more impressive given that the film is not available on the US version of the service. Netflix has performed well in Australia, Brazil and New Zealand.

No animated series has hit the top 10 TV ratings this week.
